Seychelles is hosting the Regional Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Measurement Training, bringing together national statisticians, STI focal points, policymakers, and regional partners from across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to strengthen the collection, management, and use of STI data.

Held in Victoria from August 18-20, 2026, the training focuses on internationally comparable STI indicators, with emphasis on the Frascati Manual for research and development (R&D) and the Oslo Manual for innovation. It also introduces the Social Innovation Index (SII) as a complementary framework for understanding social innovation, while exploring how digitalisation can improve management of the African Science, Technology and Innovation Indicators (ASTII) dataset.
