Healthy ageing
It is everyone’s right to have a long, and prosperous life and age healthily. As we become older, we should all be able to live independently, make our own decisions, engage in activities of daily living, maintain social connections and be a part of our community.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines healthy ageing as the process of developing and maintaining the functional ability and wellbeing that enables people to be and do what they value as they grow older. Interestingly, it does not imply absence of disease because many older adults have one or more health conditions that if properly managed through lifestyle changes and treatments, does not adversely affect their wellbeing.
