International Nurses Day message from Gervais Henrie, Linyon Demokratik Seselwa’s secretary general |13 May 2023
‘You are the heroes on the frontline of the world’s health care system’
“Today is International Nurses Day, a day we celebrate the nurses in Seychelles and around the world.
“Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) wants to thank all nurses for their hard work and devotion to every patient they care for. We encourage their friends and families to give them their encouragement and support.
“We recognise the long stressful days that you give all year round and sometimes without even a simple thank you. Do not let this discourage you. If anything, remember that you are the heroes on the frontline of the world’s health care system, and we are forever grateful to those who have taken up this noble profession.
“Your devotion to your work is a great example of the attitude to work, the LDS is promoting. You spend long hours from your families, you are often challenged and exhausted. But you still show up because you realise that you are a responsible worker, and we need more like you for the country’s development.
“On behalf of every LDS supporters, we thank you from the bottom our hearts. We are proud of you all as our hardworking compatriots. LDS will continue to support every policy decision the government takes to improve the working conditions of the nursing profession.
“Our task as the party in government is to ensure that Seychelles continues to have a well-functioning health system, with sufficient trained and motivated health workers, a well-maintained infrastructure, and reliable services.
“Happy Nurses Day and best wishes always.”
