The women’s parliamentary caucus of the National Assembly meet with Minister Francourt

The meeting between Minister Francourt and members of the WPC

The Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) of the National Assembly met with the Minister for Employment & Social Affairs, Patricia Francourt, on Thursday this week.

Accompanying Minister Francourt was the principal secretary of the Social Affairs department, Linda William-Melanie.

Attending the meeting on behalf of the WPC were the chairperson Hon. Regina Esparon, vice-chairperson Hon. Audrey Vidot, Hon. Sylvanne Lemiel, Hon. Doyace Porice, Hon. Rosie Bistoquet, Hon. Desheila Bastienne, and Hon. Flory Larue.

The Committee was accompanied by Gulmette Leste from the Auditor General’s Office, and the senior legal officer to the National Assembly, Imaan Toulon.

The Committee discussed various recommendations and constraints regarding the Domestic Violence Act, and raised points from the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence workshop held in 2022. Following this, a plan of action was made to improve the Model Law.

The WPC looks forward to more productive, revisionary meetings in future, and thanked Minister Francourt for her time and invaluable input.
