Gran Kaz supports Oncology Unit

The handover of the donation

Once again Gran Kaz has shown its support to the Oncology Unit of the Seychelles Hospital, through a donation.

The donation was officially handed over during a brief ceremony yesterday afternoon, in the presence of chief executive of the Health Care Agency (HCA), Dr Danny Louange, senior medical officer of the Oncology Unit, Johanna Rapanarilala, as well as two other staff from the Oncology Unit.

Gran Kaz representative Shama Amesbury handed over the three sofa sets for the waiting area, two wheelchairs, two shoe racks, and also a receptionist office desk, all of which amounted to just under R50,000.

Dr Rapanarilala thanked Gran Kaz for its constant support and donations as it is always there when the unit needs help.

“We thank you from the bottom of our heart for helping us in accomplishing more and more in our daily duties and to bring our patients much needed comfort and mental ease as well,” she said.

A staff member of the unit, Lucie Quilindo, also seized the opportunity to express her gratitude towards Gran Kaz for its much needed donations towards the unit and Ministry of Health.

“You have always been there for us and we appreciate that very much and I just want to say thank you,” said Ms Quilindo.

This was followed by a few words of thanks to the Gran Kaz management by Dr Louange, who shared his appreciation on behalf of the HCA.

He expressed gratitude at having Gran Kaz as a loyal partner for a number of years.

“I am glad that Gran Kaz and Shama have integrated into our system,” he said.

Speaking to Seychelles NATION, Ms Amesbury noted that Gran Kaz has become a patron of the Oncology Unit and that the organisation is always looking for ways to support and facilitate the hard work of the team in the unit.

“I think we’ve got a great working relationship, for us oncology is one of those units where we always want to help because pretty much every person you meet today would have known someone or have loved someone who have fought this battle.”
