New Spanish Ambassador calls on Assembly Speaker Roger Mancienne |15 July 2021
The newly accredited Spanish Ambassador to Seychelles, Manuel Salazar Palma yesterday afternoon paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of the National Assembly Roger Mancienne at Ile Du Port.
Speaker Mancienne welcomed and congratulated Ambassador Salazar Palma on his accreditation and expressed his joy to make his acquaintance.
Ambassador Salazar Palma said it was a great honour and privilege for him to represent his country in Seychelles.
Speaker Mancienne and Ambassador Salazar Palma discussed the challenges that Seychelles and Spain are facing due to the Covid-19 pandemic and how it has especially affected the tourism industry.
Spain and Seychelles established diplomatic relations on November 3, 1978 and Speaker Mancienne expressed his hope that the two countries can keep building on their existing bilateral relations and work towards an even stronger alliance.
Ambassador Salazar Palma was presented with a small token by Speaker Mancienne on behalf of the National Assembly before the meeting concluded.
Ambassador Salazar Palma was accompanied on the visit by Captain Edmond Hoareau, honorary consul of the Kingdom of Spain in Seychelles. Deputy Speaker Gervais Henrie, clerk Tania Isaac and her deputy Alexandria Faure also attended the short meeting.
