Man jailed and fined for unlawful wounding |03 October 2026

A 67-year-old resident of Anse des Genêts, Pointe Larue, was yesterday sentenced by the Supreme Court to 12 months’ imprisonment and fined R50,000 for unlawfully wounding a woman with intent to cause grievous harm.

Charles Estico, a pest control assistant, committed the offence on March 26, 2025, in Pointe Larue, when he stabbed Brigitte Dubois, also of Anse des Genêts, with a knife. The victim sustained a wound to her forehead and multiple stab wounds to her shoulder and neck.

The court heard that Estico and the complainant had exchanged insults on several occasions, including on the day of the incident.
