Regional climate outlook forum opens in Seychelles

Stakeholders unite on resilience and preparedness amid strong El Niño forecasts

 

Stakeholders in meteorological and hydrological services, climate resilience, and disaster risk management from across the Western Indian Ocean – including Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, South Africa, Madagascar, Comoros, Réunion and Seychelles – together with international partners, began discussions yesterday on regional climate outlooks, resilience and mitigation measures.

Organised by the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) in collaboration with the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) and the Seychelles Meteorological Authority (SMA), the 15th South‑West Indian Ocean Climate Outlook Forum (SWIOCOF‑15b) is being held at the Laïla Hotel, Anse Royale. The forum was officially opened by SMA chairman Gerard Hoareau.
