Indonesian delegation calls on President Danny Faure |25 January 2020
President Danny Faure yesterday received a courtesy call from Wimboh Santoso, chairman of the Board Commission of Indonesia’s Financial Service Authority, the Otoritas Jasa Keuangan, at State House.
Mr Santoso was accompanied by a delegation consisting of staff from the Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK) as well as the president’s special envoy to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) countries and honorary consul to Indonesia, Nico Barito.
Similar to the Seychelles’ Financial Services Authority (FSA), the OJK is a government agency tasked with regulating and supervising the Indonesian financial services sector.
During their encounter, President Faure and Mr Santoso discussed the various investment opportunities between the two countries.
“I saw the president just to report and let His Excellency know of all the opportunities for relations between Indonesia and Seychelles in terms of how we can optimise investments from Indonesia using Seychelles as a hub,” Mr Santoso explained.
“I am the chairman of the Financial Services Authority in Indonesia and it is our role to stimulate investments in Indonesia, through the financial instrument and financial sector[…] There are a lot of projects in Indonesia that would interest potential investors,” he highlighted.
Mr Santoso noted that the OJK is also keen in helping FSA in diversifying its portfolio to include Islamic financing.
Earlier yesterday, Mr Santoso also met Vice-President Vincent Meriton, secretary of state for finance, trade, investment and economic planning Patrick Payet and chief executive of the Seychelles Financial Services Authority (FSA) Dr Steve Fanny.
