‘Health workers are indispensable pillars of strength for families and communities’
“World Health Day and Health Workers Day 2025 on April 7 is a paramount occasion for honouring the invaluable contributions of health professionals, who are the foundation of our nation’s health system. This year’s theme ‘Healthy Beginnings and Hopeful Futures’, also reflects the government's shared vision for Seychelles, where every individual has access to the highest standard of care from the very start of life, setting the stage for a healthy life and a prosperous future.
“During a recent visit to one of our health centres, I witnessed first-hand the accolades that patients heap on health workers for their unwavering dedication. I met a young couple who shared their gratitude for the care they received from our doctors, nurses, and support staff. They not only provided medical assistance but also offered much-needed emotional support during the couple’s journey into parenthood. It was a humbling experience that reinforced my belief in the importance of our health workers; they are not just caregivers; they are indispensable pillars of strength for families and communities.
“In our country, conditions such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases affect both young and older populations, creating considerable strain on our nation and its health system and resulting in premature loss of functionality, productivity, and life.
