President Wavel Ramkalawan held his first presidential press conference of the year yesterday, where he gave an overview of the government’s ongoing work and shared key updates as Seychelles enters an election year.
In his opening remarks, the president said the government continues to work seriously and consistently. He noted that during the Cabinet meeting held earlier that day, several important matters were discussed – including proposed amendments to electoral and political party laws, put forward by the Electoral Commission of Seychelles (ECS) and political parties.
Touching on the forthcoming elections, President Ramkalawan reaffirmed his government’s commitment to strengthening the economy while ensuring that the people of Seychelles continue to enjoy a good quality of life.
“We are working to make sure our people live in security, the economy continues to grow, and Seychelles keeps shining as a leading country in the Indian Ocean, topping various international indexes,” he said.
