Vice-President, Police send condolences

It is with deep sadness that Seychelles NATION has learned of the passing, on Saturday August 1, 2026, of Daniel Burka, a long-serving staff member of the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC).

In a message of condolence to family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones, Vice-President Sebastien Pillay noted that Mr Burka dedicated many years of service to SBC as a sound engineer, where his professionalism and commitment greatly contributed to the country’s broadcasting sector.

“Beyond his work at SBC, he was widely recognised as DJ Burka, bringing joy and entertainment to countless Seychellois through his passion for music,” the message said. “His passing is a great loss to the broadcasting and entertainment communities, and to all who had the privilege of knowing him.”
