The Seychelles Farmers’ Association (SeyFa) has established a sub‑committee to monitor the government’s progress in meeting commitments made under the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP), an initiative aimed at strengthening agriculture and improving food security across the continent.

Re‑elected chairman Andre Sopha said the committee has been created to act as a watchdog, following the progress of government projects and initiatives linked to Seychelles’ commitments under CAADP.

“Our objective is to monitor the agricultural projects undertaken by the government that started some time ago but have still not been completed,” Mr Sopha explained. He cited the Cap Samy abattoir as one example, noting that work on the facility began several years ago but it has yet to become operational.

Mr Sopha stressed that the committee’s work is aligned with the CAADP framework, which promotes agricultural development, strengthens food security, and supports sustainable growth in the sector.
