A lifeline for autism as government launches new needs-based financial support scheme
At its latest meeting, Cabinet officially approved the establishment of the Children with Neurodivergent Disorder Needs Scheme (CNDNS). This dedicated, needs-based financial assistance programme is designed to support children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who fall outside the current Disability Benefit framework – particularly those assessed as “high-functioning” but still requiring lifelong support.
Administered by the Agency for Social Protection (ASP), the scheme will be funded entirely within the agency’s existing budget, requiring no additional fiscal allocations from government.
