PUC imposes water restrictions amid prolonged dry spell

The Public Utilities Corporation (PUC) has introduced water restrictions on Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue following a prolonged dry spell that has significantly reduced water levels in the country’s rivers and reservoirs.
Speaking to the media yesterday, PUC general manager Ibrahima Diallo explained that Seychelles has experienced very little rainfall over the past two months, leading to a steady decline in freshwater reserves.
“The situation in Seychelles regarding water supply is such that we have not received much rain for the past two months. Our rivers and barrage levels have continued to decrease and we have been monitoring the situation on a daily basis,” Mr Diallo said.
