Children’s Carnival |15 June 2026

A colourful tribute to 50 years of freedom
The Children’s Carnival, organised by the National Council for Children, was held yesterday in vibrant style, aligning this year’s festivities with the 50th anniversary of Seychelles’ Independence.
The event brought together hundreds of children, parents, and members of the public in a colourful celebration of creativity, culture, and national history.
Designed as part of the Independence commemorations, the carnival highlighted key historical periods of the nation, with children creatively representing the First Republic (1976–1979), Second Republic (1979–1996), and Third Republic (1996–present). Each era was brought to life through costumes, performances, and themed displays reflecting the evolution of Seychellois society.
