Edmund Cruz embraces the diaconal calling
The Anglican community of Seychelles yesterday welcomed a new deacon, Edmund Daniel Michel Cruz, during an ordination service at St Paul’s Cathedral in Victoria. The ceremony was presided over by the Right Reverend Danny Elizabeth, Bishop of Seychelles, who served as Chief Celebrant and Preacher.
Edmund Cruz previously served as a lay reader within the Anglican Church. He was educated at an independent school before completing A-Level studies at the School of Advanced Level Studies (Sals). He later pursued theological studies at the East African Christian College in Rwanda, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology with First Class Honours.
Beyond his ecclesiastical service, he has worked with the Forensics and Crime Investigation Department of the Seychelles Police and served as a part-time court interpreter. His wide-ranging interests include biblical studies, art, history, chess, films and cult classics, classical music, reading and drawing graphic novels, and Christian apologetics. He is fluent in six languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Creole, and Japanese.
