UK training strengthens Seychelles’ maritime security
Seychelles’ maritime security has been enhanced thanks to a specialised training course undertaken by Lieutenant Ryan Benstrong in the United Kingdom.
Lieutenant Benstrong of the Seychelles Defence Force (SDF) recently completed the Royal Navy’s International Small Ships Command Course (ISSCC) at HMS Collingwood. The intensive 14‑week programme equips naval officers with advanced ship‑handling, navigation, leadership and operational command skills particularly crucial for safeguarding Seychelles’ vast exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of 1.37 million km2.
