If you’re among the many people out there still pondering about what would make the absolute best Christmas gifts for your loved ones this year, taking a read of the Top 3 Christmas gift trends of 2019 listed below will help you on your way.

Seychelles NATION spoke to three local specialists who own businesses catering to those looking to purchase gifts for every occasion, including Christmas and New Year, to obtain their thoughts and advice on the top gifting trends of 2019.

Self-Love

Self-Love – a term that we are hearing more and more of in recent years, especially given the stresses and pressures of life; a little quality ‘me time’ certainly can therefore never go amiss.

This is especially true for our family, friends and colleagues who need some help to take some much-needed time for themselves, to take care of themselves, to treat themselves, and to fill up those cups of tea. As the saying goes You can’t pour from an empty cup! And if we are in that kind of a spirit, why not even gift ourselves some self-love?

Here are some ideas: Self-care / Self-love / Self-development books, making a healthy home-made meal, bath bombs, pamper gift boxes, vouchers for lunches or dinners and spa treatments, essential oil diffusers, eye pillows, meditation cushions, subscriptions to yoga, meditation and fitness classes, and colouring books.

Personalisation

Gifts that are personalised and customised to our loved one’s needs, wants and tastes are increasingly becoming popular.

Gifts like these show that a lot of time has gone into thinking about what our loved ones really want and need. They show that we pay attention to who the people around us really are, to what they love and even, what they don’t like.

The best thing with personalised gifts is that many items and / or services can be customised; including wall art, calendars, mugs, aprons, cushions, doormats, photo frames, cheeseboards, candles, jewellery, keyrings, all types of engraved gifts, and wine glasses.

Sustainability

Last year this particular gifting trend appeared in a similar article published by Seychelles NATION, and this year it is still among the top trends; a reminder of the world’s fight against climate issues.

Households and individuals across the world are choosing to reduce Christmas consumerism and waste by avoiding too much food waste, unwanted gifts and festive season items that are typically made of plastic like Christmas trees and decorations.

If you need some help with getting in on this trend, think about fresh, real trees as opposed to artificial trees, buying less and buying local, gifts that don’t consume a lot of electricity like books, buying services or experiences, reusing items like wrapping paper, donating to charity and giving to those that are poor / homeless.
