United Seychelles’ National Assembly candidate Alvin Grandcourt celebrating his win in the district of Grand Anse Praslin

United Seychelles takes over Praslin and the inner islands

 The United Seychelles National Assembly candidates for the inner islands and the two electoral areas on Praslin, namely Baie Ste Anne and Grand Anse, have managed to secure their seats, giving the party representation across all three constituencies.

The results were announced yesterday morning by the Electoral Commission of Seychelles in a ceremony held at its headquarters, Mont Fleuri.

In Grand Anse Praslin, the United Seychelles (US) candidate, Alvin Grandcourt, has dethroned Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) candidate Wavel Woodcock, who has served two mandates. Out of the 2931 registered voters, 1341 voted for Mr Grandcourt, representing 55% of the valid votes cast.

Mr Woodcock got 944 votes, which totals to 38.70% of valid votes cast. There were three other candidates namely independent candidate Yvon Esther, who won 3.30% of the valid votes cast totalling up to 81 votes; Richard Bossy from the Seychelles People’s National Movement (SPNM) got 63 votes, representing 2.60% and the Seychelles United Movement (SUM) candidate Marsha Radegonde managed to secure only 00.40%, totalling to 10 votes.
