US regains majority at LDS’ expense
After being outnumbered in the National Assembly for the past 10 years and spending the last five years in the opposition, the United Seychelles political party will have a majority in the eighth National Assembly following the parliamentary election held together with the presidential election from September 25, 26, and 27, 2025.
United Seychelles (US) political party won 15 direct seats out of the 26 directly elected representatives, compared to 11 for Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) which had garnered 20 direct seats in 2020.
With a score of 49.5% (30,880 valid votes), United Seychelles has taken another four proportional seats bringing their total to 19, while Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) also got another four proportional seats to bring their tally to 15 after finishing with a total of 28,159 (45.1%) votes.
The total of 28,159 for Linyon Demokratik Seselwa is 7043 less than the total of 35,202 (54.8%) achieved in 2020, while United Seychelles upped their score by 3695 votes from 27,185 (42.3%) in 2020 to 30,880 votes (49.5%) in 2025.
