Seychelles named Africa’s least risky country for financial crime in 2025

Seychelles has been ranked as the African country with the lowest risk of financial and economic crime, according to a new global report released on April 10.
The report – the Secretariat Economic Crime Index, is the first of its kind, and evaluates 177 countries on their exposure to financial crimes such as money laundering, corruption, and organised crime.
Seychelles scored 1.61, placing it 22nd in the world, ahead of many larger and more developed nations such as the United Kingdom, France, Japan, Poland, and the United States. In Africa, Botswana and Mauritius followed Seychelles, both ranking 37th globally.
