Deepam Cinema, one of the most iconic places in town, is temporarily closed as of yesterday for a three-month renovation, in preparation for its 40th anniversary celebrations in August.
The cinema was officially opened on August 10, 1985, and to commemorate this important milestone, proprietor Subash Pillay said major renovation will be taking place.
“We are pleased to announce that the renovation will include a comprehensive overhaul of the cinema’s interior, as well as a full upgrade of the toilets,” Mr Pillay explained, adding that acoustic panels will also be installed to significantly enhance the overall auditory experience.
