Music concert   

Students shine with their brilliant performances

 

Last Saturday, the intermediate and advanced students from the School of Music gave a wonderful concert showcasing all they have learnt during the year.

Held at the National Theatre in Mont Fleuri, the concert was attended by parents, teachers and supporters of good music.

The annual School of Music concert is the culmination of months of hard work and dedication by the students. It is an afternoon when the stage comes alive with the harmonious sounds of Seychellois music.

The repertoire covered an array of musical styles, including classical, pop, and more, reflecting the cultural diversity of the Seychelles.

The concert is an opportunity for students to showcase their skills and creativity, both as soloists and as part of ensembles. There were solo guitar presentations by Ayush Khanna, Emilio Richemond and Liam Quatre; solo voice presentations by Curtus Arissol and Gareth Mounac.

Piano 6 and 4 hands presentations were by Ahria Pelissier, Elvira Amelie, Niraimadhi Rajasekar, Enrique Commettant, Evin Brioche, Naomi Arissol, Shai Krisna Saravana and Jayden Quatre.

Solo piano performances were by Emily Stravens, Isabella Mason, Kean Biermann, Hailey Stravens, Tigist Kidwell, Gareth Mounac, Gabriel Suzette, Adrianna Richemond, Maitreyi Kerai and Shruti Sujith.

Anand Narayan, Tejasvi Kerai and Lucas Martins presented piano solo high grade performances.

17-year-old Gareth Mounac noted that his performance was good. “I started singing at age 9 and was influenced by my dad. At the School of Music I studied piano and singing. I am pursuing my studies in music and hopefully will find more avenues in the future.”

Emilio Richemond, 15, stated tha he was shy in front of the crowd but was happy he performed well. “I started learning classical guitar and I hope to pursue a career in music.”

The Seychelles School of Music, established with the aim of providing high-quality music education, has been a beacon of artistic expression in the Seychelles for many years. It offers a wide range of programmes that cater to students of all ages and skill levels.

The school is not only a showcase of talent but also a celebration. It brings together music lovers from all walks of life, providing a space for cultural exchange and appreciation. The audience was treated to an afternoon of memorable performances that not only entertained but also educated the public about the musical landscape.
