Chakira Rose: One gold and two silver
Two gold and one silver medal for soldier girl Chakira Rose
- Dereck Comme and Cyrous Farabeau grab three silver medals each
Team Seychelles yesterday won two more gold medals, precisely in weightlifting where female lifter Chakira Rose who competes in the +87kg category topped the medal podium with two gold and one silver medal.
In snatch, soldier girl Rose lifted 73kg, earning her a silver medal before clearing 102kg in clean and jerk, for a gold medal, accumulating an Olympic total of 175kg to top the podium in thecategory.
Very happy with her performance, Rose firstly dedicated the glory to her family for continuous support, along with her coaches, Reginald Estro, Macdonald Henriette, and William Dixie, along with the whole executive committee of the Seychelles Weightlifting Association.
She also thanked the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) for releasing her during training prior to the Games.
Seychelles other medalists yesterday were Dereck Commme (+109kg), and CyrousFarabau (109kg) who won three silver medals each.
In the 109kg category, Farabeau snatched 105kg, and lifted 130kg in the clean and jerk for an Olympic total of 235kg.
Also happy with his results, Farabeau said, despite all the difficulties, he persisted and won three silver medals for his country, adding that in the Games which is supposed to take place on home soil, he will all out for the gold medals.
As for Comme, in the +109kg, he snatched 120kg, and lifted 156kg in the clean and jerk, for an Olympic total of 276kg.
He firstly thanked God for the success, and like his colleagues, he is targeting the next Indian Ocean Island Games, allegedly to take place in Seychelles.
In total, Team Seychelles won 24 medals at the Games, including two gold, 14 silver, and eight bronze.
