The three ships of the Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron, currently on a visit to Seychelles, have donated machinery spares and defence gear to the Seychelles Coast Guard (SCG), as per the latter’s request, to maintain and upkeep of its vessels.

In a press release issued yesterday, the Indian high commission said the equipment included parts of various pumps, AC system, oil, ropes, paints and protective clothing gear for SCG personnel.

The consignment of spares was handed over to Lieutenant Colonel David Arrisol, Commander of the Seychelles Coast Guard by Captain Sarvpreet Singh, Commanding Officer of INS Tir, in the presence of Brigadier Michael Rosette, Chief of Seychelles Defence Forces, and Karthik Pande, high commissioner of India to Seychelles.

India and Seychelles enjoy warm and friendly ties including robust defence cooperation.

“Provision of these materials and defence gear will enhance the operational capabilities of the SDF,” reads the statement.

The three ships – Indian Naval Ship (INS) Tir, INS Sujata and Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Sarathi are on a three-day visit to Seychelles from March 29 to 31, 2023 as part of their overseas deployment to the Indian Ocean Region.
