PAREO project

PAREO team members explore the Odisea vessel

Children from the PAREO group based on Praslin have learned more on Odisea, a vessel specially designed for transoceanic expeditions, reaching some of the most remote areas around the globe.

The PAREO project is an innovative project to raise awareness among children in the Indian Ocean region, while the Odisea serves as a platform for local scientists in these areas.

Led by Maria Brioche, the PAREO group spent the day on board the vessel, learned about the various equipment used on the expeditions, listened to presentations and the most exciting part was snorkelling with the Odisea team in what is known as the educational marine area, used by the PAREO team as part of their programme.

Speaking to Seychelles NATION, the expedition coordinator, Ellen Myers, said the Odisea team members were very impressed with the children and their awareness on conservative approaches.
