Hosts and guests in a souvenir photograph to mark the occasion

On the auspicious occasion of Indian festival of lights, Diwali, the Captain of Indian Navy Ship (INS) Suvarna and crew hosted the children from the President's Village along with the chief executive of the National Council for Children (NCC), Yasmine Umarji, staff of the orphanage and their families onboard the ship.

They were familiarised with various compartments of a warship, including the embarked Chetak helicopter and about the various weapons and equipment fitted onboard. Interesting anecdotes were shared by the ship’s staff of the versatile previous operations carried out by the ship .

A brief lecture was also conducted by officer of the day regarding the role of the Chetak helicopter and the main gun of the ship.

The guests were then served authentic Indian sweets on the festive occasion.
