VISP students celebrate excellent results |20 August 2019
Students from the Vijay International School, Praslin (VISP) were once again celebrating this week, following the publication of IGCSE and A-Level results. The school has already established a reputation for outstanding results at IGCSE Level and over the past 2 years has shown rapidly improving A-Level exam results too.
This year, A-Level results were outstanding with 100% of students passing all exams at that level.
Overall 87% of exams were awarded at C grade or above, a figure which would be well above the average for a school in the UK and well above most international schools worldwide.
In particular, there were outstanding academic performances by Chloe Verlaque, Mandy Omath and Sumitha Pillay. These exceptional results mark yet another step forward for the school in terms of A-Level success and open doors in terms of university places for these students.
IGCSE results from the school were again pleasing with many students achieving the 5 grades at A* - C benchmark. The top academic performers were Trishia Labiche, Rona Pirame and Amadine Leste. All students at VISP sit a minimum of 9 IGCSEs and therefore leave school with a broad range of qualifications to take on to post-secondary education. A notable mention should also go to S4 student Charlotte Vanacore who secured 3 A*, 3A, 1B and 1C grade, having sat several exams a year early.
Headteacher Mark Howell was very pleased with the results. He said, “These A-Level students have now earned the right to go on and study at UniSey, in the UK, in Switzerland and in Malaysia on courses ranging from Law to Hotel Management. It is pleasing that once again a small school on a small island can enable students to access such high quality tertiary education. Students at both IGCSE and A-Level should be congratulated on their successes and we wish them all the best in the future.”
Places at VISP are still available for September in some classes, including IGCSE and A-Level classes and enrolment is taking place now. Prospective families should be made aware that waiting lists are now in effect in some primary classes.
