President Ramkalawan meets UniSey’s first class honours graduates |23 October 2021
A group of five students who graduated with first class honours in their respective degree courses at the University of Seychelles met with President Ramkalawan at State House yesterday.
These were Marty Fanny (Bachelor of Science Computing and Information Systems), Harini Naidu (BSc Environmental Science), Annabelle Lucas (BSc Environmental Science), Veronica Soupramanien (BSc Banking and Finance) and Anikah Moustache (BSc Business Administration).
Samuel Cecile, a sixth graduate who also managed to achieve a first class in his course was not present during the courtesy call.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Mr Fanny noted that the re-opening of the National Library was among the main topics discussed during their meeting with the president.
“The closure of the library is a point of concerns for students especially those who are undertaking their masters long distance and online, and this is an issue because they have to pay a fee to access the library at the University of Seychelles (UniSey). The president has given us his commitment to work on the re-opening of the National Library which will facilitate the lives of these students,” explained Mr Fanny.
Mr Fanny who is employed with the Central Bank of Seychelles (CBS) said the greatest challenge while undertaking his degree was balancing work with his studies, but he is nonetheless continuing his studies to graduate with another Bachelor’s degree, this time in law, after which he will take his masters.
