In this week’s column, readers will learn more about the talented singer Sandra Esparon.
She has made a name for herself in the local music industry and is famous for songs such as ‘Pa Abandonn Mon Leker, ‘En Lot Lannwit’ ‘Sa Bon Lanmizik’, ‘Mon Kantan Ou’, among others.
Sandra, who resides at Takamaka, began her professional music career as a member of Dezil, in 2012 she released her second album entitled ‘Fanm Inik’.
Q: When did you start your career as a singer?
A: I started my career as a singer at the age of 15 years old, in the church choir at Takamaka, but I started my career officially at the age of 16. This was the launch pad for me to become the singer I am today.
Q: Since you started your career in the music industry, can you describe your adventure?
A: My adventure has been quite challenging, but I’ve loved each part of it, every minute that I spend in the music industry enables me to brighten up my career.
Q: What’s your motto or the advice you live by?
A: I don’t really have a motto, just be yourself.
Q: How do you overcome negative comments among the society?
A: Ialways take negative comments as a criticism, which allows me to get stronger and be more successful.
Q: Who inspired you to go into the music industry business?
A: I was born with this talent, and gradually I had many opportunities to develop my art.
Q: So, what other hidden talents do you have?
A: Quite an interesting question, besides being a singer, I can also play the drums, but not professionally.
Q: Do you think Seychelles artists can match up with other international artists?
A: ‘Dezil’ group have already proven that we can make it internationally and many other artists have also succeeded to leave their mark in the Indian Ocean. I guess other artists can make it with more determination.
Q: How will you describe our young local artists?
A: Our young artists are very talented, they have so much potential, having the opportunity to have witnessed amazing talents on stage makes me proud to be part of this industry. But let’s not forget artists such as Patrick Victor, Jean Ally, Joseph Sinon, Philip Toussaint among others who have blazed a trail for the youths to follow.
Q: Which ingredient do you think makes you special and unique as a singer?
A: My smile, my voice and I am always nice to my fans.
Q: How can the local artists promote their music abroad?
A: Nowadays we have so many platforms that artists can advertise their work on such as Facebook, Youtube among others. But we need more platforms to allow our music to go internationally.
Q: What do we expect from Sandra in the future?
A: I always keep my project as a secret for the future, so stay tuned!!!
