New ladies fashion shop with a difference |16 September 2016

Cosmos enterprise has recently opened a new shop offering the best ladies clothing exclusively from the US for all occasions.

Located in Room 21 on the first floor of the Ste Claire building, the shop is co-owned by Leroy Ernesta (29) and Joel Jacqueline (30).

In a striving friendship of 15 years both businessmen have business degrees, Leroy locally and Joel from overseas.

The clothes are all original ranging in brands from Forever 21, H&M, Missguided, Love culture to Mango and Guess.

The handbags and fashion jewellery are also from the US in collections such as Jessica Simpson, Kenneth Cole and Kensie.

For the time being though, no shoes are available due to space constraint.

Mr Ernesta says as soon as they can find some space then they will start selling them.

He says their main focus is being able to sell the clothes at a price which the majority of the population can afford.

“What we are trying to do is source the items at as lower prices as possible so that we can sell them affordably when it gets here. However our shop is slightly more expensive than the average shops in Seychelles due to shipping costs,” he says.

They have a good range of sizes from XS to XXL, but most of their clothing revolves around size small to large.

What makes this shop even more authentic is that there is one of each item in only one size and according to Mr Ernesta if you buy something from their shop the chances of finding another person wearing the same clothes is rather unlikely.

He says as the business is only two weeks old they expect it to be slow but eventually pick up so all of their energy is now going into getting this business off the ground.

“For now we are concentrating on launching it and when or if it is successful then we can concentrate on something else, possibly moving to a larger location or venture into retailing, or anything along this line,” he says.

They started out by selling their clothes in hand and with time realised that there was a growing interest for what they were offering.

“We saw that people were becoming more and more interested in buying clothing that are not necessarily high quality but different than what is already on the market so we came up with the idea to go ahead with opening up a shop,” he says.

Mr Ernesta also acknowledges the high competition that currently exists locally and internationally.

“We do realise that we have competitors such as Venture Bay and Emporium who started a while back selling items from the UK and there is also the threat from platforms who ship worldwide such as Boohoo, New Looks, and Asos,” he says.

Talking about how they came up with their enterprise name, Mr Ernesta says when brainstorming they came up with Cosmos as it is related to the stars, galaxy and interconnectivity. If the shop turns out to be more than a clothing store with different entities underneath it will represent just that.
