Rotary Club Profondeville donates cheque to Les Li Viv |23 April 2016
Rotary Club Profondeville of Belgium has donated a cheque to non-governmental organisation Les LI Viv and this has been possible through close collaboration with the Seychelles Rotary Club of Victoria Coco de Mer.
The handover ceremony of a cheque of R65, 000 took place on Thursday morning at the Les LI Viv centre at La Salle D’Oeuvres in the presence of members of Belgium Rotary club delegation, Coco de Mer Rotary Club members and management and staff of Les LI Viv, as well as the young girls ofLLV centre who will benefit from this noble donation.
Rotary Club Profondeville president Schobyn Pierre said such a donation will beneficiate the LLV and help the girls develop their skills.
“The club was searching for a positive action to do internationally to help an organisation in need of assistance. So we got in contact with the Seychelles Rotary Club of Victoria Coco de Mer which already had a project to help the LLV organisation. So we took this opportunity with Rotary Club of Victoria. We donated the cheque so that Rotary Club of Victoria will be able to help the LLVorganisation,” he said.
Rotary Club of Victoria Coco de Mer president Rivolta Marco added that they are proud to have been able to work closely with Rotarians from the Rotary Club Profondeville on such a project.
“It has been eight months that we started to help the Les Li Viv organisation, and help the young ladies in difficulty. We are really glad to have our partner from Belgium to support our club economically,” he added.
The chairperson of the Les Li Viv organisation, Florence Memée, thanked both organisations for the wonderful donation.
“Last year, the Seychelles Rotary Club of Victoria Coco de Mer approached us to help us with our project. We were teaching the girls IT skills, craft work and baking. We also teach them English and French. We are really proud of such donation from the two clubs,” said Ms Memée.
The Seychelles Rotary Club of Victoria Coco de Mer recently refurbished the kitchen of the Les Li Viv organisation by donating a cooler and an oven so that the girls could have a better place to make their baking.
