Football - Who will be the country’s next head coach? |07 August 2015
An interesting question and the answer will depend on who decide to apply for the hot job.
The Seychelles Football Federation has advertised the post for national team football coach and potential applicants have until August 14, 2015 to send in their applications to the secretary general.
All applicants should boast a Confederation of African Football (Caf) ‘A’ license or equivalent in coaching and a minimum five years coaching experience of top-tier football clubs in Seychelles.
Contacted by phone to query if coach Ulric Mathiot has been shown the door after the team’s disappointing performance in Reunion where they lost 0-1 to Mayotte and 1-2 to Maldives after winning by walk-over against Madagascar to relinquish the Indian Ocean Island Games gold medal won here in 2011, secretary general Jemmy Adela had this to say:
“Coach Mathiot has not been fired. He had himself informed the SFF that he would step down after the Indian Ocean Island Games.”
