The Avani Seychelles Barbarons Resort & Spa, situated at the former Le Meridien Barbarons hotel, held its recruitment day yesterday at the International Conference Centre (ICCS).

The aim of the event, held under the theme ‘Give your hospitality career the boost it deserves’, was to attract potential workers to the new hotel which is scheduled to open on December 1, 2014.

A number of vacancies in various departments of the hotel industry were on offer like in finance, canteen, front office, engineering, kitchen, food and beverage, banquet, reservations, laundry, housekeeping and spa to name some.

According to the hotel’s human resources manager Paul Quatre, the new management company AVANI took over early this year after Le Meridien contract ended.

AVANI has Minor International as its parent company which is based in Thailand. Within Minor there is a group of hotel brands and AVANI is one of them.
“Among the different brands in the hotel group, AVANI is the most recent one,” said Mr Quatre.

He said from the time that Le Meridien Barbarons was closed, all staff were made redundant and the process was done in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and Human Resource Development. All the hotel employees were paid their compensation.

“From then on a group of people was rehired to assist during the pre-opening period of AVANI Seychelles.  Now we are building up the team and the recruitment fair is a means of achieving that,” said Mr Quatre, adding that the opportunity is there for everyone who are interested in joining the new hotel group, even the former Le Meridien Barbarons employees.

The recruitment process will still continue even after the one-day fair yesterday.
