Airtel Seychelles gets new managing director |01 April 2014

Amadou Dina from Chad has been appointed managing director of Airtel (Seychelles).

Mr Dina takes over from Vikram Sinha, who has been appointed chief operating officer (COO) for Airtel in Congo Brazzaville.

He has been with Airtel for the last eight years and was the finance director of Airtel Malawi and most recently the acting managing director for Malawi.

Mr Dina has had successful stints in Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo, before becoming finance director in Airtel Madagascar, a role he carried out successfully before his move to Malawi.

As finance director for Airtel Malawi, Mr Dina played a key role in driving and sustaining a robust business growth and also built one of the best finance teams in Airtel Africa.

He holds a Masters degree in Financial Management and Higher Degree in accounting from the University of Pierre Mendes Grenoble in France.

Airtel’s chief executive for Africa Christian de Faria has welcomed Mr Dina on board saying: “We have every confidence that Amadou is the right person to lead the company’s quest for further growth in the Seychelles at this juncture. Amadou will leverage his deep financial skills as well as strong commercial acumen to fast-track Seychelles’ profitable growth, while building the team’s capabilities.”

Meanwhile, Mr Sinha led the turn-around of the business for Airtel (Seychelles) during the last six quarters. He has worked hard to make Airtel the most preferred data network for smartphones users and led the noteworthy growth of data.

He has also prepared fertile ground for the fast growth of Airtel money and the Enterprise Business.

Mr Sinha has been very active in the promotion of Airtel’s corporate social responsibility activities and enhancing Airtel Seychelles brand image.

Bharti Airtel (‘Airtel’) is a leading telecommunications services provider with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa.
