La Digue businesses donate to Anse Reunion FC |01 April 2014

Two known La Digue restaurants, namely ‘Loutier Coco’ and ‘Gérofle’, have made donations to the island’s first division football club Anse Reunion.

The cash donation as well as equipment which include uniform, boots, bags, goalkeepers’ gloves, shinguards, balls, stopwatches, whiteboard etc. was made during a short ceremony at the Moon Light Restaurant at La Passe on Friday afternoon in the presence of the club’s management and players.

It was the club’s manager George Radegonde who accepted the donation from representatives of the two businesses, Pierre Radegonde and Jules Rose.

He was thankful to them for coming in aid of the club, aid which he feels will boost up their involvement in the 2014 Barclays league.

He wished them luck in their businesses for them to be able to “continue helping Anse Reunion”.

Mr Radegonde also called on his players to show the seriousness and commitment which is expected of them, at a time when according to him it is difficult for sports clubs to secure sponsorship.
