TVET Day: Celebrating achievements |18 December 2013
The Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme Phase 1 was introduced in secondary schools in January 2011 as part of the Education Reform 2009/2010.
Students on the programme follow a special curriculum, focusing on improving their literacy and numeracy skills.
Through the programme, students also acquire practical skills, attitudes, understanding and knowledge relating to various occupations, training and the world of work.
Since its implementation, the TVET programme has recorded remarkable achievements with the support of its strong partners, which include schools, technical and professional centres and work places.
To celebrate these achievements, a TVET DAY under the theme ‘Celebrating Achievements’ was organised on Thursday November 28, 2013. The official launching took place at the Ministry of Education’s hall, Mont Fleuri.
The main objectives of such a day was to acknowledge the support of all partners involved with the TVET programme and to educate school management teams, teachers, parents, employers and students on their roles and responsibilities towards the effective implementation of the programme.
The day also promotes TVET as an alternative programme in secondary schools aiming at meeting the diverse educational needs of learners and that of the national economy.
