Opening of Au Cap school new sign of education success |07 October 2010
Present to open the school at 10am will be President James Michel, Minister for Education, Employment and Human Resources Macsuzy Mondon, principal secretary for education Merida Delcy, senior government officials, ministry staff, Au Cap school staff, district administrators, parents and guests.
Building the school was a project fully funded by the Chinese government, with work starting in August 2008 and finishing on April 29 this year.
Other major donors include the government of Turkey, which donated all the furniture for the school.
This project is part of the Department of Education’s initiative to ensure that all children have access to facilities that can support a wide range of education programmes.
Fully staffed with teachers and support workers, Au Cap school is equipped with all the facilities to carry out the academic curriculum, as well as co-curricular activities.
It is now accepting pupils from crèche level to P5, and is one of the primary schools that have facilities for school-aged children with hearing impairments.
In operation since the beginning of the third term on September 13, Au Cap primary takes children who previously went to Anse Aux Pins and Anse Royale schools.
The official opening is being held to coincide with Teachers’ Week and the national education conference.
