Eye hospital offers special package for Seychellois |06 August 2010

Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, which has a long-standing reputation in India for innovative surgical techniques and for offering the latest eyecare technology, opened a branch in Mauritius in March.

The hospital’s business head Baddi Sanjay Vishnu told the Nation they decided to offer special packages to Seychellois after learning that many people here are suffering from eye-related disorders.

“Many people are waiting for cataract surgery, and we also provide treatment for diabetic retinopathy which is common in Seychelles,” he said.

Mr Baddi said the package will include transfer to and from the hospital in Mauritius plus accommodation.

He added that if the government is interested, they will also send their surgeons to Seychelles to screen patients and, if required, send them to Mauritius for further treatment. However, anyone who needs such treatment can contact the hospital in Mauritius directly.

He said the hospital has state-of-the-art equipment and provides affordable treatment. It has facilities like a laboratory, a pharmacy and an optical centre that offers a wide range of frames and lenses of high quality – making it a one-stop solution provider for eye ailments.

The tertiary eyecare centre treats conditions such as glaucoma, muscular degeneration and squints, as well as children’s eye complaints. It also treats cataracts, vitreous haemorrages, diabetic retinopathy and refractive errors with Lasik surgery.
Some Seychellois have already been treated at the hospital.

Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital is in its 53rd year of providing eyecare through a chain of 34 fully equipped branches across India.

Mr Baddi said that instead of travelling all the way to India and South Africa, patients can just come to Mauritius.
“The centre has well-qualified consultants and more than 25 dedicated paramedical staff to provide quality eyecare services,” he said.
