Football-World Cup matches on SBC TV |09 June 2010
As South Africa rolls out the red carpet to welcome the world's best 32 teams and their supporters to the first Fédération internationale de football association (Fifa) World Cup on the African mainland, Seychelles football fans may be asking if they will get to see the matches.
Those who cannot be in South Africa for the World Cup will still be able to live the atmosphere just by being in front of their television sets.
The Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) TV has confirmed that it will broadcast all matches, most of them live, starting with the opening match between hosts South Africa and Mexico on Friday June 11 at the newly built Soccer City stadium in Johannesburg.
Uzbekistan's referee Ravshan Irmatov will take charge of the opening match.
The group A match will be on SBC TV at 6pm, followed by Uruguay versus France at 10.30pm.
On Saturday July 12, there will be three games – South Korea v Greece at 3.30pm, Argentina v Nigeria at 6pm and England v USA at 10.30pm.
The local television station will air three games daily until June 21. From June 22-25, only one match will be live and the other will be rebroadcast because the decisive group matches are played simultaneously.
The second round matches will be played from June 26-29, followed by two rest days on June 30 and July 1.
The four quarterfinal matches will be on SBC TV on July 2 and 3 and two will be played each day at 6pm and 10.30pm.
The semifinals will be at 10.30pm on July 6 and 7, while the third-place playoff match is scheduled for July 10 at the same time.
The final will be aired live from the Soccer City Stadium on Sunday July 11 at 10.30pm.
