Ephilia resort goes recruiting at hotel school

The exercise let them see what the resort at Port Launay has to offer and how it will function, and also gave them the chance to sign up ahead of its opening in January next year. This is in line with an agreement between the resort, the Ministry of Employment and Human Resources Development and the STA.

The first group to attend the event were the food and beverage students, to be followed by similar exercises for front office and housekeeping students.

The resort’s human resources manager Eric Savy led the first exercise in the presence of Minister for Employment and Human Resources Development Macsuzy Mondon, the Constance Group’s human resources manager Marc Marivel, STA principal Flavien Joubert and senior managers at the resort.

With a good number of those present not knowing much about the Constance Group’s history, Mr Savy gave a presentation that started with its foundation in 1920.

He spoke about the group’s services and other commercial activities it offers – such as energy, commerce, real estate and banking – and its employee benefits and hotels elsewhere in the Indian Ocean such as Praslin, Maldives, Madagascar and Mauritius.

He also told the students what they, as food and beverage specialists, would have to be able to offer the guests at the new resort.

The Ephilia is set to have 750 staff, with 55% locally recruited and the rest expatriates from Mauritius, Asia and Europe.

Mr Savy said the exercise was successful, with around 60 students from the first group showing an interest and taking registration forms. The target for the whole of this recruitment drive is 300 registered students.

A similar exercise has been held on Fridays since September 11 for junior posts at the resort.
