Last contest winners find paradise in Seychelles |04 October 2008
Markus Ludwig and his partner Stephanie Kuhmichel said they enjoyed their stay enormously after winning the weekly competition that the FFH (Funk & Fernsehen Hessen) station started on August 8.
Two couples were picked each week to fly to Seychelles and, once here, they were asked a question. The winning couple stayed for a week but the losing couple flew back home on the same day.
FFH, which broadcasts pop music from its Frankfurt headquarters into large parts of south-western Germany, hosts annual competitions for couples, who enter a lucky draw to fly to top destinations around the world.
This year, the Seychelles Islands were privileged to be the chosen destination.
“We didn’t expect to be chosen,” said Stephanie. “I entered the draw because the idea of coming to Seychelles was very appealing. We received a call telling us that we may be chosen and to await a call the next day.”
“I thought we wouldn’t get in,” Markus added, “and when the call came the following day I couldn’t believe my ears. We were both overjoyed.”
The chosen couples were flown to Seychelles on Germany’s Condor airline. Once settled at St Anne Resort, they were asked: What percentage of German couples kiss in the morning and in the evening?
The couple who gave an answer closest to the correct one would win the prize. The other couple said 40%, Markus and Stephanie said 39%, which was closer to the correct answer of 14%.
“We had made friends with them as soon as we arrived and it was really sad to see them go,” said Stephanie of the losing pair, who got to spend a day at St Anne Resort and flew home with valuable gifts from Seychelles.
Stephanie and Markus had an exciting island experience and fully enjoyed their prize. Their stay was filled with various activities such as snorkelling and island hopping, and they also had the opportunity to visit Victoria.
“We enjoyed our trip to Victoria and we immediately noticed that people were very friendly,” said Markus.
“The hotel is great and the hotel staff are very welcoming. We also had the chance to see so many things like the flying fish and the coco de mer and visit different places like La Digue and the beautiful beaches on Praslin.”
Summing up their surreal experience comes easy for Markus as he puts it in one word – “paradise”.
As for Stephanie, she said it was “a dream come true”.
They both wish to return to the islands one day and bring some friends along so they too can experience paradise.
