Karate-Philoé refutes allegations

“I’m a fifth dan belt holder. I have two dans in Shotokan, one dan in Sambo, one dan in AikiJu-Jitsu branch chief, fifth dan black belt holder Philoé Ju-Jitsu and one dan in Ju-Jitsu. All these add up to five dans. I don’t understand why members of the Seychelles Karate Federation have been saying bad things about me and my school. I’ve chosen this path and it seems some people don’t like it and don’t accept my choice. I’ve made a lot of sacrifices and I’ve spent a lot of my own money to follow overseas training in the Ju-Jitsu style in Kenya.”

On his visit to the Seychelles Nation office earlier this week, Philoé also brought with him the original copy of his International Ju-Jitsu Academy of Mauritius certificate dated February 19, 2008 and on which it is written that he (Philoé) is a Godan black belt.

Philoé added that his school has since handed in its resignation to the SKF.
Philoé made the statement after the Seychelles Karate Federation (SKF) expelled his school – Ju-jitsu karate school – as one of its members. The decision was taken on Wednesday February 20 when the board of appeal met with Philoé to listen to his appeal pursuant to Article 13 of the SKF Constitution.

The decision to expel the Ju-jitsu karate school came about after some members of the federation said that Philoé had made a false statement when he allegedly said he has five dans. The federation had also summoned the school in 2007 to retract the fact its chief, Philoé, is a fifth dan black belt holder.
