International Day of Action against Climate Change-Crusaders plan global demonstrations |03 November 2007
“We intend to host synchronised demonstrations around the world on Sunday, November 4, in as many places as possible, to call on world leaders to take urgent action on climate change,” they said in New York yesterday.
“These demonstrations demand that world leaders take the urgent and resolute action we need to prevent the catastrophic destabilisation of global climate, so that the entire world community can move as rapidly as possible to a stronger emissions reductions treaty that is equitable as well as effective in preventing dangerous climate change.
“We feel that there is an overwhelming need to create a groundswell of global opinion to push for the urgent and radical action on climate change, without which we risk a global catastrophe of unimaginable proportions,” they said.
In contrast, it will be a normal day in Seychelles, where action has for decades been taken to protect Earth.
