Coral Strand presents Gold Star awards to deserving staff |21 April 2007
They received their awards during a cocktail reception held recently at the hotel’s Silhouette Lounge.
Mrs Zacharie, who has been working at the hotel for nearly 22 years, is a senior bartender and won the first prize in the ‘front of house’ category. She admits that she has stuck around for so long because she likes the atmosphere at the hotel.
“I get along fine with all my fellow workers, the management as well as the guests. I feel I can still give Coral Strand many more years of service because I am at ease here,” she said.
For her part Mrs Amelie, who is the laundry department’s seamstress, won the first prize in the ‘back of house’ category. She has been with the hotel for around 8 years.
“I was self employed just before I started working here. I think I received the award because I am a devoted person. I am always ready to help out and prepared to stay behind after my normal working hours if my services are needed,” she said.
Besides Mrs Zacharie and Mrs Amelie, the second and third prize winners in both categories were also rewarded.
In addition to the Gold Star Award winners, others who were rewarded on the night included the employees of the month for January 2007. Begita Esparon, a cashier, was the best from ‘front of house’ and Natalie Maillet, head waitress, was awarded the prize for the best from ‘back of house’.
The second and third prize winners in both categories were also rewarded.
All the winners received a certificate as well as cash prizes which were presented to them by the hotel’s general manager, Manfred Heinkelein.
