May 10, 11 and 12 National Assembly Election-SPPF presents candidates

He did so at the party’s extraordinary congress which was held at the International Conference Centre under the theme, “A serious team for a serious assembly.”

Andre Pool, who will stand at Anse Boileau, Joseph Francois (Anse aux Pins), Marc Naiken (Au Cap), Terence Francoise (Anse Royale), Charles Morel (Anse Etoile), Wingate Mondon (Beau Vallon), Daniel Frichot (Bel Ombre), Wilby Lucas (Baie Lazare) Mitcy Larue (Baie St Anne), Wills Agricole (Bel Air) Charles de Commarmond (Cascade), Andrew Padayachy (Mont Fleuri), Michel Marie (Mont Buxton), Emmanuel Fideria (Les Mamelles), Roy Nibourette (English River), Dr David Payet (Glacis) Ansley Constance (La Digue and Inner Islands), Jeniffer Vel (Pointe Larue), Bernard Adonis (Plaisance), Ginette Gamatis (Port Glaud), Marc Volcere (Grand Anse – Praslin), Waven William (Grand Anse – Mahe), Jeovana Charles (Roche Caiman), Marie-Celine Vidot (St Louis) and Terence Mondon (Takamaka).

In his speech, Mr Rene thanked members of the party for their solidarity and said elected members are there to serve the people, saying that SPPF has established a visible record of achievements for this country.

Mr Rene addressing the CongressMr Rene said that the forthcoming elections are important and should give President James Michel the necessary majority he needs in the Assembly for him to continue discharging the duties of his office effectively.

He said he is happy with the team SPPF has chosen, noting that it comprises men (20) and women (5).

The former President and party leader drew thunderous applause when he said that SPPF is ready for the election and does not require an alliance to win.

In his speech, the secretary general of SPPF, President James Michel, said that in his State-of-the-Nation Address of March 20, he made an announcement that has been well appreciated by majority of the people of Seychelles.

“I decided to use my constitutional power to dissolve, and once and for all put order in our National Assembly,” he said.

President Michel said that in past elections, the people of Seychelles have made the choice to continue in stability.

He said that the people of Seychelles know that since the July 2006 Presidential election which he won, he has worked to bring greater credibility for Seychelles in international circles.

Referring to several provisions of the Seychelles Economic Strategy 2017, Mr Michel said that his government aims to continue raising the standard and quality of life of all Seychellois.

On the important functions of the National Assembly, for example debating and approving the budget, Mr Michel said that it requires servants of the people who are serious in their work.

He noted that even the salaries of ordinary people who fail to turn up for work without valid reasons are deducted and no politicians should think they can continue drawing big salaries without working for the people.
