Pillay-R Group-Mahe Industrial gets agency for Dutch Zwanenberg |05 April 2006

The wide range of canned meat is being imported by Mahe Industrial, one of the companies of the Pillay-R Group, who has  secured the distributorship of Holland's Zwanenberg Food Group (ZFG) for Seychelles.

Seychelles is now the 75th country which has an agency for the Dutch company, one of the largest producers of meat and sausage products and canned meat in Europe.

The products, which include beef, turkey, pork and chicken luncheon meat, sausages and ham are on sale at the Ramajayam shop at the Victoria South Petrol Station at Roche Caiman.

Described as one of the best meat brands to reach the market this year, Zwan products are being sold at fairly reasonable prices.

Zwanenberg Food Group also sells its products under the brand names of Limco, Offerman, Hooymans, Kips' and Huls and supplies the market via a number of well-known private labels. It has also a strong market for sliced meat products.

ZFG is increasingly focusing on specific market segments. The company's expertise in the area of process management and integral quality combination with market-oriented positioning at all stages of the process have resulted in a broad, superior quality product range. The group's production facilities are all HACCP certified (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), a process management system which allows ZFG to guarantee the food safety of the products it produces. Both the exporting producers within Zwanenberg Food Group and the distribution centre in Aalsmeer  have been awarded a CEE accreditation.

The company exports its meat and sausage products and canned meat to several countries worldwide, in Europe, the USA, the Middle East, the Far East, West Africa and to Australia.

The foundation for the creation of ZFG was laid by Theodorus Stefanus Van Der Laan in 1929, who opened a meat processing plant in Den Haag. He began by delivering products to his customers from door to door in an old Ford.

Today, the food group has developed into a dynamic business with 1,600 employees spread out in 13 sites, with annual turnover well over 300 million Euros.
