SBL donates R30,000 to Regatta organisers |25 July 2005
Seychelles Breweries (SBL) managing director Andrew Richardson last week presented a cheque for R30,000 to the Seychelles Round Table, the event's organisers.
The cheque was accepted by the association's chairman Ray Hoareau in a small ceremony held at the SBL's O’Brien House, Le Rocher.
MD Richardson said that SBL will continue to support the Regatta event as it has been doing for the last decade.
MD Richardson also said that over the years SBL has sponsored drinks for the event and a number of staff have also helped with the sale of the drinks during the celebrations.
A sum of R7,500 from the total amount of R30, 000 will be used to reward the contestant who was crowned Miss Regatta 2005 on Friday evening while the rest of the money will be used to organise activities at Beau Vallon on July 30 and 31.
Regatta organiser Andy Moncherry thanked MD Richardson for the donation, stating that the organisers look forward to future partnership.
So far Round Table has also received donations from telecommunication companies Airtel and Cable & Wireless.
Mr Moncherry said that the organisers are hoping to raise around R300,000, which will be matched by another R300,000 from the Ministry of Health, to refurbish the Les Cannelles psychiatric hospital.
