Mauritius marks 37 years of independence-President Michel is chief guest |10 March 2005
Mauritius will be celebrating the 37th anniversary of its independence on March 12, 2005.
It was the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Mr Paul Berenger, who extended the invitation to President Michel during his visit to Seychelles in December last year.
This will be Mr Michel’s second visit to Mauritius following his participation in mid-January in the Small Islands Developing States (Sids) meeting there.
During Mr Michel’s absence the Vice-President, Mr Joseph Belmont, will assume the functions of the Office of the President.
